Senate Bill 850 proposing the Black Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio Polyxenes) as the official State of Michigan butterfly was introduced in the Michigan Senate on March 8, 2016 by Senators: Hertel, Young, Bieda, Warren, Schmidt and Johnson.
