Gull Lake Country Club was the Setting for the 2016 Annual Meeting

The event, which was open to the public, featured guest speaker Peter J. Hatch, Professional Gardener, Author, and Historic Landscape Authority. Approximately 200 people were in attendance for Mr. Hatch’s presentation based on his book, “A Rich Spot of Earth, Thomas Jefferson’s Revolutionary Garden at Monticello.”

Awards from both the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. were presented to individuals and clubs. Westwood Garden Club was the big winner receiving many awards on both the state and national level.

You may notice in many photos that you will see in the gallery that there are many beautiful centerpieces. Each member club was asked to donate 3-4 centerpieces to the event. The tables were a display of the floral arranging skills of members who contributed both their homegrown flowers, and also their talent in creating the floral displays. The centerpieces were then given to those seated at the tables who were lucky enough to have a red dot on their program.
Many thanks go out to those on the committee that made this event possible, those who volunteered during the event and especially to Rosemarie Griffith who had the idea of inviting a nationally recognized speaker to the Annual Meeting. Her tireless work to create a memorable event was evident in the way everyone enjoyed the event. Congratulations, Rosemarie, on a job well done.
